General Information

The County Court Assistants Training Conference is sponsored by the Texas Judicial Academy and partially funded by a Judicial and Court Personnel Training Fund Grant administered by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. The Court Assistants Conference program is planned by the Court Assistants Advisory Committee and produced by the County Judges Education Committee. The Texas Judicial Academy is a partnership between the County Judges Education Committee of the Texas Association of Counties and Texas Tech University School of Law.

Course Overview
The County Court Assistants Training Conference presents an opportunity for the county judge's staff to learn more about the management and operation of judicial and administrative procedures of the judge’s office. Our goal is for each person to leave this conference better equipped to assist the county judge in his or her judicial and administrative duties.

Objectives

Persons completing this educational session will be able to:

  • Assist the county judge with duties, including preparing for commissioners’ court, while maintaining an organized office;
  • Follow the requirements for posting information on the county Web site, e-filing and email retention;
  • Understand court-initiated guardianship;
  • Assist with the 2010 census; and
  • Understand how the actions of the 81st Legislature will affect counties.

Who Should Attend?
County judges' secretaries, administrative assistants and court assistants are encouraged to attend.

Reimbursement

Reimbursements are allowable for state approved travel, lodging and meal expenses. However, reimbursement will be provided for county judges assistants only.
